[Copenhagen, March 31st 2025] – PathoPulse, a Denmark-based leader in digital pathology solutions, has significantly expanded its focus beyond teaching and training with digitised slides and patient cases. In collaboration with UK NEQAS Cellular Pathology Technique (CPT), the company is driving a transformative initiative to support standardisation in digital pathology through the PathoGate platform.

This strategic partnership has led to the development of an innovative platform designed to host and operate an international Digital Pathology External Quality Assessment (EQA) scheme. By leveraging emerging opportunities and enhancing skill development, this collaboration is setting new benchmarks for standardisation in cellular pathology. The ultimate objective is to improve diagnostic consistency and elevate the quality of patient care worldwide.

The initiative has already yielded promising results, with successful pilot studies confirming the platform’s viability. By integrating Whole Slide Images of multiple file types from diverse sources and incorporating expert insights during both proposal and pilot phases, proven its potential to transform the digital pathology landscape. These early successes have laid the foundation for scaling the project, paving the way for widespread adoption and acceptance of a gold standard approach in digital pathology.

This collaboration positions PathoPulse and UK NEQAS CPT at the forefront of digital pathology innovation. Their efforts are ensuring that pathology professionals worldwide have access to cutting-edge tools that enhance diagnostic accuracy and support excellence in patient care.

‘At PathoPulse, we’re proud to support the innovative initiative of UK NEQAS CPT to further improve and standardise the foundation for successful implementation of digital pathology in clinical practice. Using our PathoGate.net platform, UK NEQAS CPT can easily collect images and associated information from their clients and make them available to the expert assessors for EQA review. This aligns perfectly with our ambition to support digital pathology activities across traditional barriers like firewalls and file formats.’ said Andreas Schønau, CEO of PathoPulse.

Lorren Mitchell, UK NEQAS CPT Scheme Manager: 'The PathoGate.net platform allows our clients to directly upload representative samples for assessment by our experts in our new Digital Pathology EQA program. This has proven to be an efficient workflow which significantly reduces our workload and ensures a standardized approach. This is a substantial improvement compared to our initial approach.'
